Day 12

Awaken Us: 40 Days to Fast & Pray – Day 12

But Terry & Barbi, things are just SO bad spiritually in our country; do you really think that revival will change things?”  We have gotten similar questions from others.  A look back into history shows us that there have been other challenging times in the past.  Prior to the Great Awakening that began in 1720 the moral fiber of the colonies was a lot like what we see today.  Dr. John Armstrong, in his book, “True Revival” writes, “Before this season of awakening, the American colonies stood at a very low ebb morally and spiritually. Family life was breaking down at alarming rates. Drunkenness and drug abuse were at an all-time high, and sex outside of marriage was considered acceptable by alarming numbers of people…. ”

But God showed up.  And the change was drastic.  It was said that in Northampton, Massachusetts, home of Jonathan Edwards, it was difficult to even find an unsaved person!  Revival and Awakening changed everything, from the culture, to the music; even church services were completely different.  Sometimes God shows up because, perhaps, He’s tired of the way we “do church.”  Leonard Ravenhill has written, “Revival is when God gets so sick and tired of being misrepresented that He shows Himself.” Please continue to pray for a miracle in 2012, that God would “show up” in an awesome way all across our land.  We need Him so much!
