Day 26

Awaken Us: 40 Days to Fast & Pray – Day 26

“There has never been a spiritual awakening in any country or locality that did not begin in united prayer.”  A.T. Pierson

On this 26th day of fasting and praying we want to encourage you to keep going!  Our country needs you!  We hope you are praying more than ever.  I’m reminded of the words of Samuel Chadwick, “The one concern of the devil is to keep Christians from praying. He fears nothing from prayerless studies, prayerless work, and prayerless religion. He laughs at our toil, mocks at our wisdom, but trembles when we pray.”

We all remember the amazing things that took place at Pentecost in Acts 2. But it was preceded by corporate prayer in the upper room there in Jerusalem.  Speaking on this pivotal chapter, R.E. Davies says, “John Stott, in his exposition of Acts 2 writes: Pentecost has been called – and rightly – the first revival, using this word to denote one of those altogether unusual visitations of God in which a whole community becomes vividly aware of His immediate, overpowering presence. It may be, therefore, that not only the physical phenomena (v2ff) but the deep conviction of sin (v37), the 3,000 conversions (v41) and the widespread sense of awe (v43) were signs of revival.”

Let’s continue to look, by faith, toward a changed spiritual landscape in our churches and in our country in 2012.
