Day 38

Awaken Us: 40 Days to Fast & Pray – Day 38

“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”  Mark 10:45

As we are coming to the conclusion of this unique season of 40 days of fasting and prayer, our prayer for you is that you will not let these disciplines end in your life. The more you press into God through fasting and prayer, the more powerful God’s presence will be in your life and the more God’s character and glory will shine in and through you.

After Jesus told His disciples about His death and resurrection that was to come, He then said, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it.” Luke 9:23-24

Self-preservation is one of the strongest drives of human nature.  When we humble ourselves as Christ fully exemplified, we begin to see and experience the glory of God first-hand.  God infuses into us the same anointing of joy that was upon Jesus, and faith takes over doubt; light takes over darkness, and life takes on a vast new meaning.

As we look forward to the “Day of Celebration” on December 31st after our unified fasting has ended, let’s look for ways we can serve and give ourselves for others. There is no contention, no division, and no disunity when our goal is to selflessly serve and give. As we pour out ourselves for others in the name of Jesus, we are doing these things unto our Lord.

“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:35

“This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.” I John 3:16
